CAPTAIN CHRISTOS T. SERDENES

Additionally, Captain Christos has tutored students in preparation for their USCG exams up to

200 GRT. As an Adjunct Faculty Instructor for CCBC, he was nominated as Teacher of the Year.

​

He possesses strong maritime leadership skills, human relation skills, is literate in navigational software but routinely uses his plotting skills to chart his vessel's course and position.

​

Captain Serdenes, whether at the helm or in a classroom setting, responds calmly, decisively, and quickly in any adverse condition. This characteristic is carried over when training students to conduct man overboard drills, fire drills and abandon ship drills.

​

Captain Serdenes attended Essex Community College where he also tutored students in the Engineering Drafting curriculum. Captain Serdenes is a Certified Open Water Diver, seasoned sailor and navigator and reads, speaks, and writes fluent Greek.

Captain Serdenes holds a 200 GRT License Upon Oceans, 500 Ton International Tonnage Certificate, 200 GRT International Yacht Master License (SAIL), Unlimited Able-Bodied Seaman and Unlimited Radar Endorsements.

His employment included working on small passenger vessels (12-49 pax) and serving as Master of the former Maryland State Yacht (151 Tons at a LOA of 112 feet) known as the Maryland Independence.

​

As a contractor with contractor crew, he worked aboard U.S. Navy vessels Cape Avinoff, Cape May, Antares, and Cappella on which his duties included, but were not limited to, Corrosion Specialist, Ships Safety Officer, and crew trainer of Environmental Management and crew safety procedures and protocols.

​

He also worked on the vessel known as the Badtz Maru, a 162 Ton 120 foot Bird Class Patrol vessel, as Chief Mate Officer, where his duties included navigator, crew training, and vessel maintenance. Additionally, while working on a 668 ft. in length, 84 ft. beam and 34,000 ton commercial asphalt carrier, Captain Serdenes was also hired to conduct and report a corrosion survey of all ballast tanks, including port, starboard, aft, and forepeak ballast tanks and cargo holding tanks, while underway.
